Z-wave - Leviton dimmer #DZ6HD status not updated in UI

Calin Birtocean 6 years ago in Devices / Z-Wave updated 6 years ago 9

Hello guys,

I have added to the Z-wave node the  Leviton dimmer DZ6HD. It responds to the commands initiated from UI to toggle and dimmer the lights connected to the switch. If I operate manually the switch the status does't get updated in bOS. Have any idea why it doesn't work?

Thank you,

Calin

Hi Calin,

please check if controller is set to Association group 1.

If that does't work you can enable polling of the device.

Hi Jure,

I am using the Aeotec Z-Stick Series 5, is this supported by bOS?

Under the Settings of the Controller there is no option to set the controller to group 1, see below the screenshots. Same for the switch.

Thanks,

Calin

You can try running Refresh Configuration from the Functions tab in the MultilevelSwitch node. You should wait for a bit for all the queries to complete. If that doesn't work you can remove the node from the configuration and click Discovery or just wake up the device.

Hi Jure,

Taking one step back to the controller, I installed the driver for Aeotec Z-Stick Series 5.

Under Devices I added the Z-wave, and by clicking the Discovery the Controller 1 was added.

Checking the Settings of the Controller 1 doesn't  provide any information, is this normal? Then, how can you set the controller to Association group 1?
Does this look as a healthy installation in bOS of the Z-wave dongle?
Thanks,Calin

Yes this is normal. You need to open the node settings for the device you wish to add the controller to. You can find more detailed instructions on how to configure a Z-wave device in our help (look for the question mark icon in the top toolbar).

Hi Jure,

After a restore factory settings of the switch, the Group 1 under Association became available. The values are available now only after enabling the poll data.

I am still concern that bOS doesn't get populated with all the information from the switch:

Thanks,

Calin

Hi Jure,

Here is the answer from Leviton technical support:

"When the DZ6HD changes state, the DZ6HD sends a hail command to the lifeline group.  It is expected to receive a poll from the devices in the lifeline that are interested in knowing its currently status."

Does bOS recognize the hail command in order to poll data from switch and get the status updated?

Thanks,

Calin

Hi Calin,

I am still concern that bOS doesn't get populated with all the information from the switch

Not all devices send their info to the controller. So some devices may be missing the first four lines.

Regarding the dimmer's status. Normally a dimmer should send its status without the need for polling. bOS doesn't support the Hail command because it is marked as obsolete by Zwave. So for the time being you can use interval polling. We'll try to include support for the Hail command in our upcoming release.

Best regards

Hi Jure,

Thank you for all the clarifications and support.
