Protocol OCPP

Sebastien Clivaz 2 years ago in bOS Configurator updated by ComfortClick Support 4 months ago 7

Hello,

Have you planned the integration of the ocpp protocol?

It's the protocol for charging point.

Best regards.

Hello Comfortclick,

What is your opinion about this new feature in comfortclick ?

Hello,

we've discussed the request since your last post and we put the OCPP protocol in our developing plan.

The protocol was requested once in the past, but there isn't too much interest for it yet, so it's not on the highest priority. So integration can take quite some time before we implement it into bOS.

Best regards.

Ok thanks for your answer.

My opinion is that the EV industrie not wait and it's the subject at this time. I have many client with an EV and charging point.

I hope less than a year...

Best regards.

Hello,

Have you more information about the integration in the nexts release ?

Best regards.

Hello,

OCPP protocol isn't intended for home automation use, so it won't be integrated. Most of the EV charging stations either have modbus, MQTT, HTTP and OCPP, so if your EV stations has any of our drivers you can add it in and control it.

Best regards.

Dear,

I didn't know that your product is only intended for private use.
Your product can be used in larger projects. At least that's the case for me.

DC charging stations often use OCPP over Modbus as a priority.

Not wanting to integrate this protocol when a year ago it was possible, I find it a shame.
The demand for the integration of AC and DC charging stations is increasingly relevant.

Best regards

Hello,

home EV charger can only be connected to one ocpp server. If in this case this is us, the charging station cannot communicate between central system and other stations as the OCPP is intended. Currently EV stations don't require the communication directly between different electrical providers that are perhaps in the OCPP system, but in the future as it looks like this will be the case, so if instead of using OCPP, you'd use our bOS  as the server, this connection wouldn't be possible.

While OCPI and OCPP have different primary purposes, they are not mutually exclusive. In fact, both protocols can coexist to provide a comprehensive EV charging experience. OCPI can handle the interoperability and user-facing aspects, allowing users to access charging stations seamlessly. Meanwhile, OCPP manages the technical communication between charging stations and central systems, ensuring efficient operations.

OCPI and OCPP are essential components of the ever-evolving EV charging ecosystem. OCPI focuses on user-facing interactions and interoperability, while OCPP handles the technical communication and management of charging stations. By working together, these protocols play a vital role in making EV charging more accessible, efficient, and user-friendly, ultimately contributing to the continued growth of electric mobility.

Best regards.
