Logging in to other server from client

Noel Fuentes 3 months ago in bOS Configurator updated by Ricardo Pinto | visiontech pt 3 months ago 4

Hello,

I have two bOS servers. Is there a way (i.e. adding a button on the visualization) of avoiding clicking on the up right menu button -> exit -> log in to the second server in order to change visu?

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Not that I'm aware...

Nonetheless, you can have the two instances opened. I do that a lot, especially when working at two servers at the same time, or when trying to implement something on a client that I have implemented on my own server, so I have both opened so I can compare, export, etc. I have dual monitors on my computer, but you can place 2 instances side by side on the same monitor.

If you already have one Configurator opened, you can basically open another Configurator and have both.

That's the only option I can suggest right now.

Best regards

Or you can use RPC to retrieve the most important values from the second server and create a theme based on them. However, it could be a lot of work if there are many devices you want to control.

Hello,

First of all, thank you, Ricardo and Jürgen, for your answers.

I am aware of both options you mentioned.

Ricardo, this solution is not for me, actually. I have a few clients that have two servers and I was looking for a solution. The thing is that you can not have two instances opened of client app for Android or iOS. That is why I am asking :)

Jürgen, just as you have just said, I do can use RPC to visualize a few values, but doing that with the entire project is a lot of work.

I know clicking 3 times on a mobile app to change the project is not a big deal, but it is quicker :)

Thank you again for posting.

Hello Noel,

I thought you wanted to have two Configurators opened, that's why I suggested to open both instances on the same computer, based on "adding a button to the visualization".

While I understand what you're asking, in practice you'll save like what, one click?

Let me give you an example (that Jürgen also knows pretty well, Ajax Systems alarms):

Each location / alarm, is treated as a different instance. And you have one application to manage them (well two actually, one "regular" and one "pro"). When you have one alarm opened, if you want to quickly change to another visualization, you make two clicks (open the list, and choose another alarm). On ComfortClick you have three clicks, so no big deal.

While I understand the point, I can't see a quicker way to move between servers for now. I understand that the quickest way would be when logged on a server, to be able to change to another theme from another server almost like you change between floors om the visu.

Something like that...
