Grinder Black hanged and lost connection

Daryl Lim Ming Yen 3 days ago updated 1 day ago 4

Hi folks, my client's Grinder Black got hang and lost connection on 13 Aug. And this incident coincided on that day there was a windows security update (KB5063875) which reportedly causing some issues on the OS.

My client has to restart the Grinder in order to restore the operation.  Wanna check whether anyone has encountered similar issues like mine?

Hello Daryl,

the latest Windows update did add some new OEM drivers for the new Grinder. In theory the update should go normally through, with server reset and downtime for about 15 minutes while BIOS flashes.

However in some rare cases, the update doesn't go all the way through and the server needs to be manually reset.

If you will encounter the same issue, please let us know and we can offer support on how to disable future driver updates with windows.

Best regards.

Hi noted on this. At least I can explain to my client the possible reasons for the system hang issue, and what we could do about it to mitigate such occurence. Thanks

Hi, it happened to us in three separate Grinder Black installations, during last few weeks, all with Windows 11 IoT. In all cases Grinder Black was switched on but it was not possible to connect or ping. One of them was checked by me onsite, I connected monitor and screen was black, switching off and on helped, it started normally. In two remaining cases customers did it and it started. As a workaround I have disabled Windows update, in order to avoid this in a future. Updates will be done manually when I am sure that customer is at home and is able to switch off and on - in order to avoid situation, that ComfortClick hangs during customers vacations as they need to control their homes remotely.

Hi Andrzej Szymkowicz,

Thanks for your inputs. At least now I can rule out my client's IP network or hardware issues. I must say that Windows service support has been very disappointing lately
